MONDAY
Arrived on Observatory Hill. Stared at the gorgeous scenery for about 15 minutes, before the doors were opened. I found out that three other kids were also doing wexp at the same time as me, lol. Geoff, the guy in charge, remarked that it was "incredibly nice of (him) to let four of (us) come at once."
So, the three other kids are:
Evangeline:
She's kinda shy, and she doesn't talk much. I think she's Indian, but yeah...she could be Sri Lankan
She's very pretty, and around the same height as Elaine and Allie I think. ;DD
Comes from St George's Catholic School.
Charlie:
And this guy is freaking TALL. Like...REALLY tall. I feel short standing next to him...he's like a wall. DD:
Brown hair, has a bad habit of chewing his nails and fingers. Don't ask me why I noticed these things.
Comes from William Clark's College. (They apparently have ads on buses advertising their school...)
Aberjeet:
Shorter than me this time, lol. Kinda really thin and lanky, Indian.
Shorter than me this time, lol. Kinda really thin and lanky, Indian.
Lives in Quakers Hill as well. Tends to talk really really fast. Has really neat handwriting though.
Comes from Girraween High School.
So we started off by doing the whole low down on safety procedures, hazards, stranger danger and the whole shebang. Afterwards, we got split into pairs My partner is Charlie for this week, he's really nice. Talkative too, more than the other two, so at least I had conversation.
We ended up going to see the big telescope first, which as awesome We got to try our hand at operating the thing as well, which was brilliant. Managed to look at the sun and spot the prominences coming from the sides, and then we got a look at Venus too. Unfortunately, Venus is almost as far away as it is possible from earth, nearly behind the sun, so it wasn't that clear. But oh well. ;DD
Afterwards, we went back down to the staff room. I had to sort out an entire year full of night tour schedules for this year. It wasn't too bad, but yeah, can't say it was interesting. Afterwards, we learnt how to do the 'Meet and Greet' thing at the front desk, and enter their records into the database.
Me and Charlie then got to tag along with a tour, which we stalked people on the Harbour Bridge with the big telescope (hehe), got a really good 3D movie tour of the Solar System, and sat around with the kiddies and watched as Sylvie worked the planetarium. Then we went out and had lunch, came back and pretty much just browsed around the various astronomy sites which are really cool, and talked.
So uber uber uber funn!!!!!
